Record-Breaking Heatwave Shakes the Capital
This June, Islamabad witnessed one of the harshest heatwaves in its history. On June 11, the mercury shot up to a scorching 45°C, making it one of the hottest days ever recorded in the city. Residents across sectors struggled with power outages, water shortages, and general discomfort, as daily life was disrupted by the oppressive heat. Many turned to cooling methods like fans, air conditioners, and increased water intake just to cope with the brutal conditions.
The heatwave not only affected daily routines but also posed serious health risks, especially for the elderly, children, and outdoor workers. Hospitals reported an uptick in cases related to heat exhaustion and dehydration during this period.
Pre-Monsoon Showers Offer Hope
Fortunately, the Pakistan Meteorological Department had predicted this change.
