Royal Danish Embassy Islamabad, Hosted a Mega event, DKinPK

The Danish Embassy in Islamabad on behalf of Denmark had the honour and pleasure to celebrate 16 November 2019 in Karachi the mega event, DKinPK.

The event was visited by numerous personalities and highlighted the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and put the focus not only why green transition is necessary for Pakistan and to the benefit of Pakistan’s economy, but also suggest concrete solutions from Denmark to the green transition challenges that we are all facing.

The event pointed the significant economic benefits for Pakistan of green transition, and it will encourage Government to do more in paving the way for a real green transition of Pakistan.

The event showed how green transition in the private sector can make best economic sense, and it will encourage Pakistani business companies to adopt sustainable practices in their plants and operations.

The event showed how turning to sustainable living at home and in the everyday sphere can improve the lives of ordinary citizens, and it will inspire Pakistanis all over the country to increase their own efforts in promoting sustainable living in their everyday lives.

Renowned Danish chef Casper Bogeskov is in Karachi and will teach and inspire healthy living and sustainable cooking through training and multiple sessions with Pakistani chefs. Mr Bogeskov showcased a good number of tasty, but healthy food options to inspire chefs and food-loving Pakistanis in their choice of ingredients and cooking.

Celebrated Danish band Rocqawali fusions the great Pakistani tradition of Qawali music with modern rock and takes it to amazing heights! This stunning cultural fusion inspires mutual cultural understanding and builds friendships across the world.

The SDGs highlighted in the event were: SDG 2: Zero Hunger; SDG 3: Good health and well-being; SDG 7: Affordable Clean Energy; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.

Meri Pharmacy: A one of its kind pharmacy and health care centre now operational in Karachi

Meri Pharmacy has opened its flagship pharmacy and health centre in PECHS, Karachi. The centre was toured by the distinguished Chief Guest Mr. Abdul Latif Sheikh, President and CEO, Pakistan Society of Health System Pharmacists and Guest of Honor Syed Adnan Rizvi, Director, Drug Testing Laboratory of Pakistan. During the tour, guests were briefed about the variety of medicines available as well as the health care services being offered. Elysee Productions Launches the Title Song of its Maiden Movie ‘SACCH’

Elysee Productions launched the title song of its maiden cinematic venture ‘Sacch’, featuring the vocals of the legendary Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. The title song gives glimpses of the film’s lead characters who seem to be in great pain and despair. The heart-wrenching melody is penned by Fatima Najeeb and the director of the film’s music is Simaab Sen.

The lyrical content of the song is heart-rending enough on its own, but it is the maestro’s vocals that pulls the listeners’ heartstrings. The song articulates the internal struggle, conflict and pain of the film’s main characters and their expressions make the viewers’ feel the pain as well. Music of this emotional track is exceptional and raise the audience’s anticipation for the film’s upcoming songs.

Produced under the banner of Elysee Productions, Sacch is scripted by award-winning Bollywood screenwriter Kumud Chaudhry and directed by Zulfikar Sheikh. Dialogues of the film are by the celebrated Pakistani playwright Haseena Moin. The film marks acting debut of Elysee Sheikh opposite Asad Zaman Khan and Humayoun Ashraf. The supporting line-up includes veterans Javed Sheikh, Nauman Masood, Uzma Gillani, Fazila Qazi and others along with Zulfikar Sheikh and Tasmina Sheikh. The movie is all set to be released worldwide under the banner of HUM Films on December 20, 2019.

SUSEN opens its doors in Hyderabad with great flourish

The fourth store launch of SUSEN, and the first in Hyderabad took place here today at main Autobhan Road, Hyderabad. Star-studded with prominent celebrities and models, as well as socialites, the opening was marked by a glamorous fashion presentation.

The evening kick-started with a bustling red carpet where guests took pictures on arrival, at the media wall. The host of the event, Ahmed Godil, welcomed and interacted with everyone, while they partook of hors d’ ouvres.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony to inaugurate the outlet was done by chief guest Suzain Fatima, followed by guests taking a thorough round of the store, exploring the available range of products by SUSEN that included handbags, shoes, sunglasses, and other accessories for both men and women.

The segment started with a fashion walk and fashion presentation by models Rakeeba Khan, Momina Khan, Saima Haroon and Kanza Khan. The makeup of Suzain Fatima was done by Paras’ Blush Salon-Hyderabad. Makeup of the models was done by Rubecca. The outfits for our models and celebrities were designed by Zubia Motiwala.

Speaking on the occasion, CEO SUSEN Pakistan, Omer Raees said “After finding success in 60 countries, we are thrilled to launch SUSEN’s store in Hyderabad. We are truly grateful for the support and response we have received so far.”

The sale and offers at the shop will continue for three days – that is, up till 3rd November.

PAKISTAN ADVANCES TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH OF RED BULL CAMPUS CRICKET

PAKISTAN ADVANCES TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH OF RED BULL CAMPUS CRICKET WITH A 9 RUN DEFEAT OF INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE OF BUSINESS & TECHNOLOGY FROM SRI LANKA.

 

Still riding high from yesterday’s defeat of arch-rivals India, Pakistan played like a squad determined to make the finals and outclassed a scrappy Sri Lanka side in a 9 run victory on the way to 187 runs overall.  The win puts Pakistan in the finals of the 2019 Red Bull Campus Cricket tournament and a chance to seek the ultimate glory of raising the winner’s trophy.

Man of the Match Mahmood Ali pushed Pakistan from the start, leading a balanced attack at the crease with 23 runs and providing outstanding fielding when the team needed it the most.   Ali also was the star against India the day prior when he punished India with a big bat and hopes to keep this trend going in the finals against South Africa.

“Sri Lanka played brilliant cricket today but I’m happy that we got the victory,” Ali said.  “South Africa will be a tough opponent in the finals but we are ready for the challenge.  Maybe the best team wins, maybe not but we’ll go out and give our best.”

The Energizer Over again proved to be an Achilles heel for Pakistan as they failed to capitalize for the 2nd straight match.  In what should be an opportunity to pad their run totals, they instead were bowled out which automatically staked Sri Lanka to a 5 run start on their chase.  The Energizer Over is a unique element to Red Bull Campus Cricket where teams can select one over where every run is double in value and adds an additional strategic element to each match.

Launched in 2012 with just over 800 participants, Red Bull Campus Cricket has grown steadily, with the number of participants increasing year-on-year, reaching over 8,000 athletes in total. It has fast cemented its status as an important competition for aspiring cricketers currently in university – all players within a team must be affiliated with their own university or college.

Wheatable Ride and Run – Lahore

A successful turn up at Wheatable Ride and Run in Karachi led to a round two at Main Gulberg Boulevard, Lahore. It was absolutely refreshing to see people come together for a good cause i.e. the elimination of single-use plastic. Wheatable suggested this initiative that brought everyone together to put an end to single-use plastic. In addition, another leg was added to this cause where participants could now opt for a walk if cycling or running wasn’t their cup of tea.

Single-use plastics, or disposable plastics, are used only once before they are thrown away or recycled. These items are things like plastic bags, straws, coffee stirrers, soda and water bottles. We produce roughly 300 million tons of plastic each year and half of it is disposable! World-wide only 10-13% of plastic items are recycled.

Wheatable stands for and promotes an active and healthy lifestyle. Thus, it continues to make conscious efforts in this regard and this event in particular consisted of both running and cycling that welcomed both, amateurs and professionals to take part and bring about a difference in the environment.
