The Lahore edition of Pakistan’s biggest Food and Music Festival concluded successfully on Sunday. The three-day Festival held at Lake City Lahore, on Nov 16th, 17th and 18th attracted a huge number of visitors from all corners of the city and provided families with an opportunity to plan a perfect day out. The festival attracted over 100,000 visitors to sample the city’s culinary delights. Attendees witnessed chefs working their magic through cooking demonstrations and enjoyed live music. After the successful completion of #CokeFest in Lahore, the festival will now travel to Faisalabad to share the love of food and music with the city.
The Coca-Cola Food and Music Festival offered a variety of cuisines with flavors and delicacies to cater to a wide array of audience. The festival offered a diverse panel of culinary talents along with several home based chefs. The biggest animated movie of the year, The Donkey King has been ruling the box office since its release has now become the highest grossing animated movie of the year raked in 18 Crore in total by the end of its fifth week.
A film by Aziz Jindani, the architect of the success of Pakistan’s first and most popular animated super hero series for a leading antibacterial soap brand, The Donkey King has proven to be a worth watch for all ages.
The wave started with the movie’s release as it surpassed 4 Crore in week one and became unstoppable as it approximately collected 1.3 Crore in the movie’s fifth week, that makes a banging total of 18 Crore. The Donkey King is the only animated movie that surpassed the benchmark of 15 Crore and is now on its way to make more money than all previous Pakistani animated films combined.
The bi-annual Masala Family Festival, the biggest and much-awaited family festival of the year was held the Expo Centre, Lahore on 10th and 11th November 2018. Pakistan’s leading biscuit manufacturer, EBM, makers of Peek Freans- sponsored the third iteration of the EBM-Peek Freans Pakistan Open Tennis Championship this year. Organized by the Punjab Lawn Tennis Association (PLTA), the championship was run from the 21st – 27th October, 2018.
This first-of-its kind open tennis championship, included matches for all ages. The winner of Under-10 and Under-12 tournament was Hamza Roman. Boys U14 trophy was given to Sami Zeb for singles and doubles to Sami Zeb and Hamid Israr.
While M. Shoaib received the trophy in the Under 18 category. Muhammad Abid won the trophy for Men’s Singles ; whereas the winners for Men’s doubles were Aqeel Khan and Shahzad Khan. Ushna Sohail bagged the trophy for Women’s Singles and the trophy for Senior’s doubles 40 plus was presented to Maj Adnan and Talha Waheed. Senior Men Doubles 45 Plus winners were Rashid Malik and Fayyaz Khan.
Seniors 60 Plus trophies were presented to Zahid Zafar and Dr Naveed.

EBM pioneered the concept of sports sponsorships in Pakistan by being the first corporate entity to sponsor live satellite telecasts of international sporting events such as Mohammed Ali’s now iconic boxing matches with George Foreman and Joe Frazier in 1974. EBM was also a partner in The World Football Cup that took place in Munich in 1973, and the 1973 Wimbledon Finals. A Trade delegation from Belgium led by Pascale Delcomminette, CEO, Wallonia Export-Investment Agency (AWEX) visited Pakistan Fashion Design Council (PFDC) to explore opportunities for promoting bilateral trade and economic relations between Pakistan and Belgium.
The delegation was representing promotion of foreign trade and foreign investments for Belgium in the foreign Fashion and Design market. The delegation held a meeting with Chairperson PFDC, Mrs. Sehyr Saigol, Mr. Saad Ali, CEO of PFDC, Mr. Kamiar Rokni, Spokesperson PFDC, and Mr. Azfar Hassan of Matrix Sourcing and Board member PFDC, along with a few curated Pakistani designers to explore various areas in the fashion market that offered good potential for business collaboration between the apparel sectors of Pakistan and Belgium.
The delegation were presented with the works of over 80 designers stocking at PFDC, followed by a presentation from Chapter 2 by Khaadi, The House of Kamiar Rokni, Lulusar of Matrix Sourcing, Jeem by Hamza Bukhari, Hussain Rehar, Republic by Omer Farooq, Saniya Maskatiya, Nida Azwer, Hira Ali, Saira*Shakira, and Aura Jewels by Mariya Suhail.
The presentations put forward by designers showed that Pakistan has extreme potential to boost exports with its value added goods. There is synergy between craft, design, and production quality, as designers have added that element of design into time-honored crafts to upgrade them into unique and globally competitive value added products. These products have enabled our local designers to not only generate business in the local market but also to expand rapidly into foreign markets.
After the presentation, the delegates assured that AWEX would work closely with PFDC to explore all untapped areas of bilateral collaboration between Pakistan and Belgium for achieving mutually beneficial outcomes for both countries.
Peek Freans Sooper is bringing the legendary Sufi Rock band Junoon back once again but this time in a live concert that is slated to be held this December to give an exciting new chapter to “Sooper Hai Pakistan Ka Junoon”.
As pioneers of Sufi Rock in Pakistan, Junoon in its 14-years of existence recorded more than half a dozen albums together. After their album “Talaash”, their popularity sky rocketed, until the band came to a complete halt in 2009.
Peek Freans Sooper ignited the spirits of Junoon fans and initiated “Sooper Hai Pakistan Ka Junoon” campaign on Independence Day 2018. The band reunited after 13 long years and took the digital world by storm with the reprised version of their song “Khudi”. Peek Freans Sooper is now planning the biggest musical event of the decade for all the fans of Junoon with Junoon’s power-packed performance and spellbinding music.
