We were still recovering from the four days of fashion injection from PFDC L’Oreal week that news of Fashion Pakistan Week came in.

Our fashion industry is growing at an exponential speed, with humongous 6 month long lawn campaigns, new designers entering the foray while veterans still going strong as ever. Yes, there’s scope and opportunity in the market but a lot of competition as well.

With over 25-30 designers and retail brands showcasing their latest luxury/pret collections at FPW, our eye caught Zainab Salman’s name- a designer making waves in Lahore design circles and we’re sure she’s going to make it big in Karachi this time around.

Zainab has been in the market for over 6 years but is debuting for the first time at a fashion week. Through FPW in Karachi she plans to expand in the metropolitan city since her Lahore’s clientele base is pretty solid. The designer has mostly restricted herself with luxury formals and pret but that’s her forte, providing exemplary styles and cuts.

She plans to showcase her Spring/Summer ’16 collection titled ‘Moon Struck’ and we have high hopes that she’ll take the fashion week and Karachi city by storm. The collection entails enchanting cuts, lots of intricate details amalgamating sheer fabrics. Embroidery and prints have been incorporated and she has used a lot of organza.

The collection is based on a soft colour palette and pieces have softly flowing layers- a much-needed touch keeping the intense summer heat in mind.

“You will see a lot of fun pants- overlapping pants, embellished pants and a lot of western gowns as well,” said Zainab.
