IIOJK elections 'a disgraceful farce': Mushaal Mullick

ISLAMABAD:
Senior Kashmiri leader Mushaal Hussein Mullick, wife of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Yasin Malik, condemned the upcoming elections in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, calling them a “drama” and a “shame.”

In an interview with PTV News, Mushaal stated that these elections are a facade of normalcy meant to mislead and harm the Kashmiri people. She described them as part of India’s ongoing strategy to suppress the legitimate aspirations of the Kashmiri population. “This isn’t the first time we’ve seen such a charade,” she remarked.

Mushaal criticized the Modi government for granting domicile rights to approximately 5 million non-residents, accusing India of allowing them to pose as locals to manipulate the election results. “Dressed in Kashmiri attire, they will play their parts in this orchestrated drama,” she warned.

She further accused India of using both old and new tactics to project a false sense of normalcy in a region still under heavy military occupation. “The idea of normalcy here is nothing but deception,” she asserted.

Since 2019, Mushaal highlighted, many non-Kashmiris have settled in the region, under the protection of a large military presence. “This is not just about elections; it’s about erasing our identity,” she stressed.

She called on the international community to stand with the Kashmiri people, who continue to face oppression. Mushaal reaffirmed her dedication to challenging these measures and vowed to advocate for Kashmiris’ right to self-determination. “We will raise our voices locally and globally; our struggle will not stop,” she concluded.
