A Fly Jinnah flight from Karachi to Lahore issued a ‘Mayday’ call on September 23, 2024, at 7:15 PM, due to smoke detected in the cargo compartment near Lahore, according to a spokesperson for the Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA).

The flight, FL 846, safely landed at Lahore Airport at 7:23 PM, confirmed the PAA spokesperson in a statement to Bridesandyou.

In accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), the airport’s fire department was on high alert to respond to any emergency. All passengers and crew were safely evacuated via the aircraft’s emergency evacuation system, the spokesperson added.

Following an inspection, the fire department declared the aircraft safe at 7:57 PM, with no lingering hazards.

Senior officials have launched an investigation into the incident, the PAA spokesperson confirmed.
