Non-Bailable Arrest Warrants Issued for Bushra Bibi Amid Court Absence

In a significant legal development, the Special Judge of Islamabad, Shahrukh Arjumand, has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Bushra Bibi, the wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan. The warrants were issued after her continued absence from court proceedings, as reported by Express News.

Court Proceedings in Adiala Jail

The hearing, conducted at Adiala Jail, saw the presence of Public Prosecutor Syed Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi and his team. Both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were summoned to appear before the court, but Bushra Bibi’s absence has now extended to ten consecutive hearings. This led the court to express frustration over her repeated non-compliance.

As a result, the court not only issued arrest warrants for Bushra Bibi but also directed her surety to appear in the next hearing scheduled for December 9. Judge Shahrukh Arjumand warned that her bail could be revoked, and the surety bonds forfeited if she fails to appear again.

Toshakhana Fake Receipts Case

The legal troubles for Bushra Bibi and Imran Khan stem from their involvement in the Toshakhana fake receipts case, where both have been named as suspects. This case has drawn widespread attention due to its political and legal implications.

Previously, an Additional District and Sessions Judge extended their interim bail until December 7. While Bushra Bibi’s exemption request from a prior hearing was accepted, her persistent absences have now led to stricter judicial action.

Imran Khan, who is already implicated in multiple cases, including allegations of protests, vandalism, and other charges, was also directed to present himself via video link but did not comply. The investigation officer requested additional time to verify the Toshakhana receipts, prolonging the case further.

What Lies Ahead?

The legal situation for both Bushra Bibi and Imran Khan has reached a critical juncture. The court’s stern stance reflects its intent to move the case forward. If Bushra Bibi fails to comply with the next hearing’s directives, her bail could be revoked, intensifying the legal repercussions.

This development is yet another chapter in the ongoing legal and political challenges faced by the former PTI chairman and his family, as the Toshakhana case continues to unfold.
