Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has unveiled a comprehensive package to uplift and empower students, focusing on education, technology, and entrepreneurship. Speaking at a scholarship distribution ceremony at Bahauddin Zakaria University, she emphasized the provincial government’s unwavering commitment to merit-based initiatives.

Merit-Based Scholarships for a Brighter Future

Maryam Nawaz announced the allocation of 50,000 scholarships for deserving students, ensuring that these opportunities are purely awarded on merit without political distinctions. This initiative aims to support families striving to provide quality education for their children. The Chief Minister highlighted plans to expand scholarships further, with aspirations to include international opportunities in the coming years.

For students admitted to private and public institutions, the provincial government will cover full tuition fees, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder educational aspirations.

Interest-Free Loans for Student Startups

In a groundbreaking move to foster entrepreneurship, the Chief Minister revealed an interest-free loan scheme. This initiative offers up to Rs 30 million for students to establish startups and businesses, enabling them to secure their futures and contribute to the nation’s economy.

Promoting Green Mobility with Free Electric Bikes

Maryam Nawaz also launched an environmentally friendly initiative by distributing 100,000 electric bikes to students. This step aligns with the government’s vision to combat air pollution and reduce reliance on conventional fuels. Partnerships with Chinese companies are in the pipeline to establish an e-bike manufacturing unit in Punjab, further supporting technological innovation and local production.

Focus on Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies

Addressing the evolving demands of the global job market, the Chief Minister called for increased emphasis on education in artificial intelligence, robotics, and science and technology. She envisions a Punjab where students are equipped with cutting-edge skills for a secure future.

A Call for Peace and Progress

In a pointed remark, Maryam Nawaz urged students not to be swayed by disruptive political agendas, warning against unrest and advocating for civil and democratic engagement. She expressed disappointment over recent instances where youth were misled into actions they later regretted, stressing the importance of constructive efforts for the country’s betterment.

This robust package reflects Maryam Nawaz’s vision to empower youth through education, green initiatives, and entrepreneurship, paving the way for a progressive and sustainable future.
