Elon Musk has stirred global attention by suggesting that Ukraine was behind a major cyber attack on X (formerly Twitter), which led to widespread outages on Monday. The attack, described as a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack, was claimed by Dark Storm Team, a pro-Palestinian hacker group.

What Happened?

On March 10, 2025, X users around the world reported massive connectivity issues, with at least three major disruptions affecting the platform. According to Downdetector, over 40,000 complaints flooded in regarding the site’s unavailability.

Shortly after, Dark Storm Team took responsibility for the attack via Telegram, boasting about successfully “taking Twitter offline”. They also shared a screenshot displaying failed connection attempts across multiple regions.

Elon Musk’s Response

Musk responded to the incident in a post on X, stating:

“There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against 𝕏. We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved.”

Later, speaking to Fox News’ Larry Kudlow, Musk revealed that the attack seemed to originate from IP addresses in the Ukraine region. While he didn’t directly blame the Ukrainian government, his statements led to speculations about potential state involvement.
