Pakistan Condemns Israeli Strikes on Iranian Nuclear Sites at UNSC

In a powerful and principled stance at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), Pakistan condemned Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, terming the actions as unlawful, provocative, and a direct violation of international law. The strikes reportedly targeted sites under the watch of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), raising global concerns over escalating tensions in the region.

Pakistan Calls for De-Escalation and Dialogue

Speaking at an emergency UNSC session, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, criticized Israel’s unilateral actions, noting that the repeated international calls for peace and dialogue have been blatantly ignored.

Pakistan’s position is rooted in international law and the UN Charter,” he emphasized, adding that Islamabad fully supports Iran’s legitimate right to self-defense under the United Nations framework. The ambassador highlighted the urgent need for all involved parties to halt hostilities and return to diplomatic negotiations to avoid further instability in the region.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Expresses Solidarity with Iran

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a phone call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to personally convey Pakistan’s strong condemnation of the U.S. and Israeli strikes. PM Shehbaz expressed heartfelt condolences over the loss of innocent lives and wished for a swift recovery of the injured.

He also voiced concerns that U.S. attacks had targeted IAEA-protected Iranian nuclear facilities, an act that undermines the credibility of global non-proliferation frameworks. The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support and solidarity with the people and government of Iran.

A Call for Peace and International Accountability

Pakistan’s recent statements reflect a broader call for global accountability and respect for international norms. Islamabad’s consistent support for diplomacy and peace is not just about regional stability but about upholding a global system based on rule of law and mutual respect.

With the Middle East already a hotbed of tension, these developments underline the need for urgent international intervention and conflict resolution mechanisms to prevent further escalation.
