Depilex College of Cosmetology hosted the third Graduation Ceremony on the 16th of January, 2019 under the patronage of Punjab Skills Development Fund.
The spectacular event was attended by Ms. Masarrat Misbah, CEO Depilex and Mr. Jawad CEO PSDF where the third batch of 200 beauticians were awarded with their certificates under the scholarship program in collaboration with Punjab Skills Development Fund. The program aims to provide free of cost beautician courses to the low-income women of Pakistan, focused on professional make-up, hair dressing and skin aesthetics.
“It is an incredible feeling to see the third batch of women graduating from Depilex College of Cosmetology, ready to start a new chapter in their lives.” stated Masarrat Misbah, the founder of Depilex Group of Companies while speaking at the occasion. “The one thing I don’t do is give up and this is the one lesson I’ve learnt in my life that don’t ever let those few people that put you down dictate your life and your goals, do not for one second doubt yourself based on the opinions of some, do not let them cloud your vision, always believe in yourself and know there will be dark days but you must pick yourself up and strive to accomplish your dreams.”
With this ceremony, Depilex College will be marking a new milestone having exceeded their goal to educate and train 600 underprivileged women free of cost in 2018
A unique collaboration between Harris Tweed Hebrides and Pakistan’s leading fashion designer has created a stunning couture collection that will go on show on Friday 30th November at Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum in Glasgow.
Hassan Sheheryar Yasin – known as the designer HSY – has been invited by The UK Association of Medical Aid to Pakistan to design a collection using the iconic Scottish fabric as the centre-piece for their annual fundraising dinner which is being held outside London for the first time.
He has created a couture collection which incorporates Harris Tweed into a range of contemporary ladies’ fashion with a Pakistani identity. Yasin, who has travelled from Lahore for the event, said: “It has been a privilege to work with such a wonderful natural fabric which is known the whole world over. I would like to thank Medical Aid to Pakistan and Harris Tweed Hebrides for inviting HSY to be part of this incredible event. I’m overwhelmed by the beauty of the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum. It is the perfect setting for the marriage of HSY & Harris Tweed Hebrides.”
More than 400 guests at Kelvingrove Gallery will raise funds for The UK Association of Medical Aid to Pakistan and also for The Linda Norgrove Foundation, an Isle of Lewis-based charity which supports women’s and children’s projects in Afghanistan.
Farah Khushi, Glasgow-based trustee of UKMAP, said: “We are delighted and very proud to have brought our annual fundraising event to Scotland for the first time and are indebted to Harris Tweed Hebrides and HSY for their invaluable contribution to the evening’s fundraising efforts, beautifully bringing together two cultures in one collection.”

The Grand Finale of Obhartay Sitaray 2018, was a treat to the ears with the young, soulful voices echoing through the hall. In the new season of Obhartay Sitaray, more than 75,000 household from 138 school campuses in Karachi participated in the fundraising efforts while over 862 students (206 teams) competed in the school level singing rounds. For the Team’s Final, 134 singers and the Voices Final 150 singers from Primary, Secondary, Senior, & College levels participated in the competition.
Obhartay Sitaray is an annual inter-school singing competition that provides students a platform to prove their singing talent and also raise funds for education of the less-privileged children of TCF. The notable as well as veteran musicians that graced the event on the judges panel included Tina Sani, Afshan Ahmed, Salman Alvi, Shahid Hamid, Z H Fahim, Sultan Arshad Khan and Zoe Viccaji.
Speaking on the occasion, CEO of TCF, Syed Asaad Ayub Ahmad said, “TCF remains committed to the cause of education and believes in enabling a holistic learning for the less privileged children. Obhartay Sitaray provides a fantastic ground for the aspiring young singers. ‘Obhartay Sitaray’ which was initiated in 2012, has now become a signature event of TCF in the course of five years. It is managed by a ladies volunteer group called Supporters of The Citizens Foundation (STCF). The group actively puts in time, effort, expertise and resources to arrange a vast array of fundraising events to support the cause of an educated and enlightened Pakistan.

The Lahore edition of Pakistan’s biggest Food and Music Festival concluded successfully on Sunday. The three-day Festival held at Lake City Lahore, on Nov 16th, 17th and 18th attracted a huge number of visitors from all corners of the city and provided families with an opportunity to plan a perfect day out. The festival attracted over 100,000 visitors to sample the city’s culinary delights. Attendees witnessed chefs working their magic through cooking demonstrations and enjoyed live music. The Coca-Cola Food and Music Festival offered a variety of cuisines with flavors and delicacies to cater to a wide array of audience.
