The nation’s biggest food and music festival’s second season is scheduled to conclude with a bang in Karachi on 9th, 10th and 11th March 2018 at Beach Park, Clifton Karachi. Attendees will also witness chefs working their magic through cooking demonstrations and enjoy a stellar line up of live music with other fun-filled activities. The incredible selection of musicians from Coke Studio includes megastars such as Strings, Ali Sethi, Sahara UK, Asim Azhar, Quadrum, Nabeel Shaukat and Sahir Ali Bagga.
With the successful series of events in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad Eat Food Festivals in 2017, Pakistan’s favourite food platform ‘EAT’ celebrated their 5th Anniversary by drawing in large audiences with the inauguration of Karachi Eat on 12th January 2018 atShaheed Benazir Bhutto Park.
The brain child of CKO Event Architecture, now in its fifth year running this annual event has become the largest food Festival in the country and draws in a crowd of over 300,000 people in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. Eat festival focuses on details which no other festival would consider. The purpose behind it is of course to create an experience which is as inclusive as possible whilst maintaining the original concept.
Karachi Film Society hosted a press conference in the metropolitan city to announce the first Pakistan International Film Festival, scheduled from March 29th, 2018 to April 1st 2018.
PIFF is an initiative of Karachi Film Society, a non-profit parent body of PIFF established by the most accomplished people in their respective fields; Dr Ishrat Husain (former Governor State Bank of Pakistan), Ms Ameena Saiyid (CEO OUP), Senator (r) Javed Jabbar (writer/producer, former Information Minister), Mr Sirajuddin Aziz (CEO Habib Metropolitan Bank), Mr Jamil Baig (CEO Nueplex Cinemas), Ms Ronak Lakhani (Chairperson SOP), Ms Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy (Oscar winning director/producer), Ms. Sayeeda Leghari (Managing Director/Chairperson, Pepsi Sukkur Beverages (Pvt Ltd.) and Ms Sultana Siddiqui (recipient of President’s Pride of Performance Award, founder and president of HUM Network Ltd and Karachi Film Society).
The press conference was attended by prominent personalities of Pakistan entertainment industry including Nadeem Baig, Wajahat Rauf, Ayesha Omer, Sanam Saeed, Yasir Nawaz and Asma Nabeel. Speaking at the press conference, Director General Pakistan National Council of Arts, Mr Jamal Shah appreciated the efforts of Karachi Film Society and stressed on the need of having such platforms for the promotion of Pakistani art and cinema.
The inception of ‘Pakistan International Film Festival’ is a result of KFS’s desire to make the Pakistan film industry part of the global arena. This festival will introduce the country’s blossoming film industry to international markets and will encourage local filmmakers to showcase their work to the local and international audience. The festival will be held under the patronage of Honorable Governor Sindh, Mohammad Zubair, Honorable Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and the support of Sindh Government’s culture department. Karachi Film Society is the proud partner of Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) in organizing PIFF through Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage. PIFF activities are also supported by Karachi Youth Initiative (KYI). Hum Network is the media partner of PIFF.
The festival will comprise film premieres and special screenings in the categories of feature length films, documentaries and short films. PIFF management is inviting the overseas delegates of filmmakers, artists and professionals of the film industry from abroad and expects many renowned names to grace the festival.
Another important aspect of this festival will be to hold workshops for young aspiring filmmakers where they can learn the craft from renowned mentors. A special mobile screening programme is also included in which PIFF teams will show selected films to young audiences on different locations of Karachi. The special panel discussions on women’s role in Film/ TV and seminars on the Pakistan film industry will also be an integral part of PIFF.

Lahore edition of Pakistan’s biggest Food and Music Festival concluded successfully on Sunday. The three-day Festival held at Royal Palm Golf & Country Club, Lahore, on Nov 17th, 18th and 19th attracted a huge number of visitors from all corners of the city and provided families with an opportunity to plan a perfect day out. The festival attracted over 30,000 visitors to sample the city’s culinary delights. Attendees witnessed chefs working their magic through cooking demonstrations and enjoyed live music.

LACAS presents Chapter 2 of their biggest performing arts festival in Lahore, ‘Urain Ge’ from Nov 15-19, 2017. The 5-day performing arts festival will be held across three different iconic venues in Lahore; the Alhamra Open Air Theatre Qaddafi Stadium, Bagh e Jinnah Open Air Theatre and at the Alhamra Arts Council. All proceeds from tickets sales of Urain Ge will be donated to the Sundas Foundation.
‘Urain Ge’ by LACAS aims to revive the culture and spirit of performing arts by bringing together diversity of art fields; from theatre, music, dance and film, all on one platform. A three-day festival focusing on the women of Pakistan organized by High Events, launched recently at the Global Marquee, Karachi. The festival kicked off with a woman empowerment seminar which culminated in Pakistan Women Festival Awards and was followed by a health seminar. Concurrently, an art exhibition took place all day. The evening ended with a scintillating concert.
This Independence Day was a very special event for us Pakistanis as it was the 70th year since its being. Keeping this in mind the management of Park Towers organized a two-day splendid, fun filled Azadi Festival on 13 and 14 August. It was easily one of the best celebrations as lots of activities had been planned making it a memorable day. The evening had many surprises for all including illusion and magic show by renowned TV personality illusionist Shahrukh who has wowed audience previously on all leading channels. He has shown his prowess as a superb magician on TV and the audience was witness to the same at the festival.
Stand-up comedian Saad Haroon was also one of the highlights of the Independence Day celebrations at park Towers. Saad Haroon had the audience in stitches with his tongue-in-cheek interactive jokes. Known for his witty one liners since his Black Fish days, Haroon has come a long way. He is currently hosting a famous morning show on radio. Saad Haroon at Park Towers was one of the most sought after segments that saw the floor jam-packed with all wanting to participate in his comic act.
This segued into the captivating music performance by singing sensation Feddy Fap who entertained all with his hit numbers. He had the audience engaged till the very end. Feddy even provided the background score for the fashion show as models sashayed down the aisle in Bonanza attire.
Other activities at the Azadi festival were the pipe musical band, games for kids, activity stalls, upto 70% off sales, and live singing for everyone.
Biker show by the heavy bike gang was a much anticipated segment and one that held back guests till midnight. The bikers entertained all with their adventurous antics and finally everyone congregated for the cake cutting and flag hoisting ceremony.
Hum TV network has initiated the first HUM Short Film Festival 2017, to encourage and recognize new film makers and new films to create a bond between cultural heritage and modern film making techniques. HSFF will be the first-of-its-kind festival on Pakistani television.
