Sidharth Malhotra and Sonakshi Sinha sizzle on screen as the dark, gritty music video ‘Ittefaq Se’, showcases a sight of the intense thriller ‘Ittefaq’. The movie is a rebooted version of the 1969 original by the same name, which, fascinatingly, did not have a single song. The promotional number ‘Ittefaq Se’ is a reprised take of the Bappi Lahiri superhit ‘Raat Baaki’ from ‘Namak Halaal, 1982’ starring Praveen Babi and Amitabh Bachchan, that was sung by the unique artiste Asha Bhosle along with the composer.

Anjaan’s lyrics have been given a new twist with additional lines by Tanishk Bagchi and Groot. Replacing the hook like ‘Pyar Se’ with ‘Ittefaq Se’ has made this song pertinent and elevated it to a title track.

Tanishk has retained ‘Raat Baaki’s’ disco vibe and lends a pop feel to ‘Ittefaq Se’. The classic slow shriek in the introduction and Jubin Nautiyal’s unplugged version of the mukhra sets the tone for the rest of the song in the suspense thriller.

Tanishk’s track with its modern-day, cooler beats give it a pleasing feel. Known to create some of the best reprised versions of yesterday year songs, Tanishk has done an admirable job on this one, too. Singer Nikita Gandhi’s husky tone and Jubin’s honest pitch and throw, brings in the retro feel that the music aims to achieve. Go ahead try a listen readers!

There are so many expectations from the audio of the fourth installment of the super hit GOLMAAL series, GOLMAAL AGAIN. And we need not research into the very obvious reasons. So, let’s get ready for some fun laced, quirky and unnecessary to add, successful stuff from a host of upcoming and promising young composers with lyrics from the ever reliable Kumaar.

Famous Tamil and Telugu composer S. Thaman has been roped in to compose the Golmaal title track, which transmits the fun, party and friendly spirit of GOLMAAL and starts off with the highly popular signature tune of the film series. Aditi Singh Sharma and Brajesh Shandilya bond well to render a lovely scored and superbly arranged number where the tempo just doesn’t loosen and the party continues till the very end.

Ajay Devgan and Aamir Khan’s ‘Neend Churayi Meri’ forms base of ‘Maine Tujhko Dekha’, which is a sort of a renovated version of the chartbusting ISHQ number. Amaal has put in some good efforts to make the song more modern and in sync with the mood and storyline. It’s nice to hear Neeraj Sridhar (back after quite a while) who boosts the mood with his spirited singing along with Sukriti Kakkar.

Lijo George- DJ Chetas come up with quite an exclusively set number, ‘Itna Sannata Kyun Hai’, which is good fusion of party hip hop, pop and EDM. The chorus is the highlight of the song with the horror element terrified in for good measures. Aditi Singh Sharma and Amit Mishra render the fun number which has some suitable and funny lyrics.

Amaal Malik composed and rendered ‘Hum Nahi Sudhrenge’ is easy on the lips, a feel good, hummable song, which is quite breezy and sums up the cheery and fun spirit of GOLMAAL.

Featuring the collective cast of the movie, Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi, Parineeti Chopra, Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor, Kunal Kemmu and Tabu, the grand music video has been doing rounds and is bound to be loved by the youth and Gen X.  Summing up, the audio of GOLMAAL AGAIN is completely in tune with the fun and festive party spirit of the movie. All the songs are potential hits with the title track and ‘Maine Tujhko Dekha’ being our top choices.

The QMobile Hum Style Awards 2017- a night full of entertainment

The Second Annual Qmobile Hum Style Awards took place on October 21st 2017, in Karachi, organised by HUM Network Limited, in partnership with QMobile. According to President HUM Network, Sultana Siddiqui, “We are proud to be pioneers in the field of entertainment. In our projects, it is always our aim to seek out new talent and provide a platform for it and these awards are instrumental in facilitating this purpose. The awards last year were the first of their kind in the country, providing entertainment while at the same time recognizing industry leaders, trendsetters and promising talent. With the second ceremony this year, we are continuing with our efforts to maintain complete transparency with our results, celebrating the fashion and entertainment industry while simultaneously endeavoring to provide stepping stones that will help in building and developing the industry further.”

The CEO of QMobile Zeeshan Akhtar observes, “This is the second year in which QMobile will be associating itself with the Hum Style Awards. Our brand is proud to partner with a network that has always adhered to high quality standards in entertainment. The QHSA raised the bar last year by presenting a riveting, highly credible awards ceremony and has grown from strength to strength this year.”

21 highly anticipated awards were given out on the basis of voting and jury sessions. The script written by Ali GulPir and Akbar Chaudhry lacked luster though. Saba Qamar, Farhan Saeed and Ali Kazmi hosted the evening while Anoushey Ashraf and Dino Ali were the digital hosts. The red carpet saw tons of celebrities pouring in- find out who looked good and who failed to shine bright on the red carpet in the next piece we have for you on our website (click on the link).

Media personnel were flown in from all over the country to attend the event and were very well taken care of without any hiccups by Take II. The performances planned out for the event, were something the audiences were really looking forward to as tremendous hype had been created for the past few weeks by the digital media being over taken by QHSA updates sent our way by none other than the very energetic and enthusiastic team of Take II PR handled by Tehmina Khaled. But they failed to impress the audience as much as they had done last year.

Celebrity styling was carried out by Rao Ali Khan, Alizeh Pasha and Sabah Bano Malik. Hair and makeup for the awards was by the NPro and N-Gents team at Nabila’s. Production 021 was in charge of Backstage Management. Direction on stage was handled by Shah Sharabeel and the event design and execution was all by the team at HUM Network.

Brides You QHSA’17 Style Watch

With all the songs and the dances and the funny one-liners aside, what we dug was the experimentation we saw on the red carpet. Pakistani celebrities are finally picking out somewhat daring and unique outfits and we absolutely loved it. Here are our picks of the hottest and some lukewarm celebrity looks we came across this QMobile Hum Style Awards 2017.

The Hottest:

Madiha Imam

Madiha wore a beautiful gradient teal by Zoria Dor straight out of a fairytale. The pretty-pretty ensemble did justice to her sweet girl-next-door look. The dainty work on the bodice and the flow of the skirt – we can go on and on about how pretty everything looked!

Ayesha Omar

There is one princess in every red-carpet event, always! One always shows up in a pearl white, pastel pink or, like this time, a plum formal gown. Ayesha certainly dazzled with her queen-like dress. Her style game has gone incredibly up after her Yalghaar days. The queen wore a Russian made Valdrin Sahiti sparkly plum gown.

Sonya Hussyn

Her steamy Adnan Pardesy shoot is still the talk of the town. Hussyn showed up in a sizzling off-shoulder black and white saree by Studio Designs, slicked back hair and dark maroon lips. Leaving every single person on the carpet awestruck, Sonya became quite a showstopper.

Sadaf Kanwal

Sadaf wore a very Bollywood, barely-there black chiffon saree with a slick bun. So simple yet so classy. Zaheer Abbas is the designer behind our new-favorite saree.

Saba Qamar

Light pink Shehla Chatoor mermaid dress Saba’s pick for the night. The entire look kept very simple looked really classy and grown up. We could have Photoshopped her on Emmy’s red carpet and no one would have batted an eye.

The Lukewarms:

Urwa Hocane

Urwa Hocane has these really innocent, doll-like features which we absolutely adore. Putting her in a very constricted, all-shimmery silver gown was not the wisest choice. It almost looked like an armor.

Saheefa Jabbar Khattak

There is a thing as too much orange. Especially when it’s neon. We loved her orange eye makeup though. One thing Saheefa did manage to look was fierce and she was that even before her win at the awards.

Mawra Hocane

When in doubt, wear red. Seems like Hocane sister took it too seriously. Wearing red two-piece by Semsem, Mawra did look cute but it was a little off when it comes to an awards night.

Hania Aamir

We never thought we would be saying this: Hania Aamir was not on the top of her style game at this year’s Hum Style Awards. Everything worked out waist up. Skirt was just bizarre.

‘Simran’ Music Review

Kangana Ranaut is the main lead in the movie ‘Simran’ which is directed by Hansal Mehta and it can be counted amongst those having one of the most refreshing six-track albums of recent times.

Composers are Jigar Saraiya and Sachin Sanghvi who have come up with a winner, in spite of the fact that some parts of a few songs have a weird resemblance to the signature tunes of Amit Trivedi and Pritam.

The first song of the movie, ‘Lagdi Hai Thaai’, is a perky number by Guru Randhawa and Jonita Gandhi, which has a catching foot-tapping beat that urges you to join in the wedding shown on screen as Kangana breaks into a performance. This song has been on the Top 20 Charts since the last three weeks.

‘Baras Ja’ written by Priya Saraiya is one of those typical dreamy songs that will have most Mohit Chauhan fans always hitting replay.

The next song, ‘Meet’, is a slow, breezy, romantic number that a singer like Arijit Singh can certainly, sleepwalk through, and he does. The melodic song has lyrics by Priya. The female version on this track by the talented Aditi Singh Sharma is pleasing to the ears. The most refreshing thing about this song is that Aditi adds her signature touch to it, very smoothly.

Sunidhi Chauhan completely owns the next track which is ‘Pinjra Tod Ke’. This motivational song starts with a soft piano prolog after which Sunidhi’s skillful form takes over. Kalyan Baruah’s guitars, Tejas Vinchurkar’s flute and Jitendra Jawda’s violin just adds to the score.

‘Majaa Ni Life’ by Shalmali Kholgade begins with Kangana’s ‘Hi I am Maniben, Shakuntla, Kanta ki badi ben’, setting a humorous mood. Vayu’s worthy lyrics are easy to recall and most single girls would relate with the conditions. This high-energy song with ‘Naach cutie naach cutie’ by Divya Kumar and the catchy rap parts by Shalmali, make it fun.

The title song rendered by Jigar is a verse to the lead character and defines her personality intensely. Playful and lively, the soundscape takes you back to Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Barfi’ (2015) song.

Sachin-Jigar and Vayu jammed on the lyrics together and it was Jigar’s idea to make this a chatty song. And so, keeping the phonetics in mind, the creators decided to go with these lyrics.

Overall, Simran is a good bunch of songs and one of the better albums this year.
